  4. As I mentioned in a topic in Turbo Workshop, my stock turbo is on its way out due to the impeller rubbing on turbo housing. It started becoming worse and worse and not sure if it's just because I actually know what to listen for now and am kinda paranoid about it, but I think I noticed a drop in power as well (especially before the boost is well on, but that's too late for anything that won't cost me losing my license...). So! I think I made a decision. I was considering just replacing it and staying stock and even getting rid of the car and giving a V8 a shot. I actually took one for a test drive (Bogan special VF), but damn, I love my current car and turbo in general too much, so decided to get even more of the fun factor out of it and say hello to the mods! The complete list of mods I'll be planning to do in the future will include: -turbo upgrade -injectors + valve springs -high flow air filter -intercooler -exhaust -fuel pump -ECU To start with, I think I'll go with turbo upgrade, injectors, air filter, cat, ECU and probably upgrading intercooler piping. New turbo will be the expensive part (but this needs to be done in my case), so I don't wanna spend too much money all at once, but definitely prepare myself to eventually do it all over time. Is there anything else you would recommend I should start with / do differently based on what you've done or seen in the past? Also, I'm quite torn up about turbos, not sure which one to go ahead. Heard a lot of good things about GTXs, but also heard that there are plenty other good ones that are as good (if not better), but less expensive... I guess that'd be a constant debate, but what do you reckon? With GTXs, I was first thinking GTX3576R vs GTX3582R, but leaning towards 76 - I'm not looking at huge power late, rather quick gains early on with a minimal lag. Also, I should add, it's my daily car and I'm not looking for some huge power or to track/drag it, hoping for some manageable, low 300s if possible. Anyway, that's the plan for after Christmas-New Years break, hopefully will be able to post an update about how is it all coming along soon!

  5. Nice work mate looking forward seeing it all finished. Give us your feed back on the deadener and how much of a difference it makes inside the cab.

  6. Rear of the car is first up. Old brakes and rotors are off, second coat of deadener is on but will have to dry over night. Then on goes the black sealer. Rotor centres are painted, pads and lines fitted to calipers. Time for a bourbon!

  10. final update, car had a fg motor fitted along with a protrans th400 and 3000rpm stally, final 98 tune was a baby 345rwkw on just gate pressure at 15psi, E85 tune was 395rwkw at 17psi was going to cram some more boost in the e85 tune but it was a really hot day over 35 degrees and intake temps climbing to 44 degrees more boost would have been pointless. I took it to wsid and got a pb of 11.1 at 124mph on a 38 degree day, heat killed the car it lost 1.5 psi and I should have stalled it up more before leaving the line. always next time to cack that 10........... cooler day better tyres and I think I will be there no probs. car drives awesome now, 1-2-3 powerskids no brakes, driving in 3rd gear at 60klmh and it smokes the wheels with ease, this power level will do me untill next round of mods are on the cards. big thanks to joe and the boys at cms, top notch work!

  15. Anti static gloves really? Would have been the last place I would have ever worn them. I work with control cards all the time at work and I have never worn them or used the earthing wrist straps they provide and I haven't farked a card yet. But in saying that they must have reasoning for recommending them...

  17. Got my GT dynoed just after purchasing, stock bog standard, got 334.3 and 333.8kW over two runs. Must admit have not had it re-done after 2.5 years, but will get Simon to tune it soon and we shall see, would love to get his full package done to it but the 'Minister of Finance' has dusted off her cat-o-nine tails and is polishing her gimp suit so I get the sneaky suspicion the answer is a tad negative.

  20. Part two of the brake upgrade. Decided to fit the front this morning and it was painless and straight forward just like the rears. Did not have to get the grinder out this time, but the extra bleeding required meant they still took about the same time per wheel from start to finish. As before, here are some pictures I took during the swap. Factory FG front brakes look a little less ridiculous behind the 20inch wheels compared to the rears. Factory FG front brakes with the wheel off. Factory FG front caliper next to the 4 pot Brembo. The 4 pot Brembos are considerably bigger as expected. Factory FG front rotor next to DBA T3 355mm rotor. The black paint they use on the rotor hubs comes of real easy, so gotta be careful with the brake cleaner. New rotor and Brembo caliper all fitted up and brakes bled. Final photo with the wheels back on. Finally some decent brakes to fill out the wheels Overall I am very happy with how it all went and from initial run around the block, there is a lot more bite with moderate brake pedal pressure. Still early days as I was doing the usual beading-in procedure, but towards the end once they got some heat into them they really performed well. Pads are original Brembo fronts that came with the calipers and Bendix GTC rears, so nothing special but will do for now. I could not find much info on the Safebrake braided line kit. I had an issue with the rear bracket rivet holes not lining up so had to elongate the brakes a bit, so will be passing on my feedback to Safebrake with some pictures. But apart from that all good.

  21. what ever fuel you want as long as the car is tuned for it, if stock tune 95 or 98, you could run P100 but would be wasting your time as there is no benefit with stock tune and you will use more of it

  22. I don't like black wheels either.. in general they look cheap, dirty and half the time can't even see the design anyway. Could be black hubcaps for all I know

  25. Thanks Panda. Negative comments are also encouraged, but only if when your proved wrong your attendance becomes compulsory In speaking with the businesses that have invested the most into this community, they are all for a Nationals. Even one who is based the furthest away from NSW see's it as being beneficial and wanting to support such an event. We've now got a date of May 2014 to work towards utilizing WSID and Eastern Creek North Circuit. They finalize their 2014 calendar in the coming months and will confirm our date. I honestly can't believe you guys find it that daunting of a task? I reckon half y'all are just too scared to tell this missus your going on a holiday with the boys to play with your car!

  28. Wheels magazine ZF 6 Speed Auto BF Typhoon 0-400 Meters 14.0 @ 169 km/h 0-100 km/h 5.9 sec BF GTP 0-400 Meters 14.3 @ 166 km/h 0-100 km/h 6.2 sec Good write up/read looks like the Phoon is pretty handy around Calder Park, kicked the GTP's ass buy 2 full seconds. They say the stock Brembos on the Phoon really dont match the GTP's for power and bite. They also mention that the new 19" wheel and tyer package iron out some front end issues that the Phoon had and now it handels a bit sweater. Now I just have to work out how other people can afford to owen a car like the Phoon, once I work that out I can go and buy my self a Tuffphoon. Man I want one BAD.
