Thanks for all the replys. I've talked to the mechanic this morning and he's agreed to make a claim through his insurance. If it gets picked up he'll have a $1000 excess which he's agreed to cover. If it doesn't get picked up then we'll work through the issue together and come up with a solution. I'm a reasonable person but don't feel like I should be wearing all of the costs.5 points

Tried the multimeter. 12 volts + off and about 14.7volts running. Unless there is a loose earth or something1 point

Would have to be cheap to live with the American styling. Not a fan of modern American cars. Viper maybe the exception.1 point

A GTX complete ready to fit on is going to be a lot dearer than what you have mentioned, you need a rear housing, you may be able to use yours if it hasn't been damaged, the wastegate port and flapper will require modifications, the front cover needs a boost reference nipple fitted, you need an actuator and will require a custom actuator bracket and the front cover has a 4" opening so a new intake will be required. You will then need a tune and the supporting mods to support the new boost level1 point

^^ SteveR, what you need is a ratcheting open ended spanner, there are quality brands available along with the cheaper ones. Buy a cheap one in the right size and cut to length to fit . I'm asking santa for a set this year.1 point

hahah don't not sure how off topic this is but ....... I was just watching youtube dyno runs of the new vf gts hsv and seen that they claim 430kw and 700+nm but when they run it on the dyno it makes only 325 than they tune it and it makes only 350rwkw, they must be bullsh*tn about the figures no way its got 105kw drive train loss and also for the 6.2 the ford 5L gets way better results holdens really droped the ball!!! ha1 point

No one is able to prove he kept limiter bashing your car which caused a rod to let go.. As so many have said.. He could have just been goingfor a rather normal drive to see if the issue started to present itself.. While I'm sorry for your situation.. I've been in and around business for long enough to know that there is always three sides to a story.. Customers Businesses And what actually happened..1 point

Sounds like a plan! As long as I get my car down the cms before then, won't be running a 10 with no boost!1 point

Don't assume a rod will only break at full noise. They can let go at anytime.1 point

well done Got to be happy with that!! It was a stinker in Sydney last night.. Only a brave soul would consider running a turbo .. Decent 60 for average tyres too Cheers1 point
-
Honestly unless you are going turbo side stick with the stock intake and cut a big hole out the front of it... Don't waste cash on intakes in factory position when stock is just as good.1 point

Noticed this today... a previous repair that's lasted up until now... The cable end is just dangling free now. Groovy!1 point

Well it was a challenge to get this scanned in as a jpg file without any pixelation on the image. I had to visit another division of our company to get this scanned in. PITA!!!!!! Now I have no idea if they had already done anything to the car when they did the stock run. All I know is that the stock run said 10psi. I never ever saw it go over 6psi in the TORQUE application for my android phone. Last night when I was out on a cruise it did show up as just a tad under 12psi, so I get the feeling that TORQUE is not telling fibs.1 point

Like I said for the cost of the cooler and the gains I cant complain. Its a BA and to me its pointless in spending any more. If it was an FG I would consider spending more on exhaust, cooler and other exotic items but the fact is its a 10 year old car. The point of this was to show that a retune is not always mandatory but is recommended and I dont See others posting their results other than ratter when he did the g6et test. Crapper cooler as some put it does the job but it works for this mild set up. I remember the days when most of you had the wog coolers......1 point
-
Crap cooler to a crap cooler equals 10rwkw, so obviously the crapper cooler wasnt as bad as the crap cooler.1 point
