Story HERE

I think the VIC government and Police need to look at working with car enthusiasts rather than against them. Where can people go in Victoria at the moment? My 2 cents worth.

A petition apparently happening according to the paper also HERE!

Mass petition to 'save' Easternats

BY MICHAEL RANDALL

16/07/2009 5:21:00 PM

SUPPORT for Easternats continues to grow with a mass signing of a petition tomorrow night aimed at saving the motoring extravaganza.

The petition is calling for the parties - Victoria Police, Melbourne Racing Club and Greater Dandenong Council - to meet event promoter Jon Davison to "consider the event based upon its proven record and resolve any issues and have the Easternats reinstated at Sandown''.

Petition organiser Paul, of Dandenong South, called for supporters to "turn out in force'' to sign the petition, but warned them to "do the right thing''.

"We want people to behave themselves. We've registered the event with police and we want to do this in the right way. Anyone who turns up needs to be respectful and do the right thing.''

Springvale police confirmed they were aware of the gathering and would be "monitoring'' it.

The petition signing has been planned for the Bunnings Warehouse car park, on the corner of Springvale and Cheltenham roads, Keysborough, from 9.15pm.
