I'm curious to see how many people drive with them on.

I'm also curious as to the laws in regards to driving with them on. I know a few poeple have stated it's illegal, but it seems to vary from state to state. I live in SA and a while ago I looked on the TransportSA website at the road rules section. The only reference I could find in regards to fog lights refered to rear fog lights. No mention of front fog lights.

Sorry guys, but I have to have a bit of a whinge here. The use of fog lights in the absence of fog, let alone in daylight hours is a real pet hate of mine. Often they are poorly adjusted and shine directly into your eyes in the case of oncoming traffic, and on wet roads at night the reflection off the road can also have a dazzling effect. As for the use of rear fog lights that light the back of the car up like a christmas tree, well, I don't want to offend anyone, so I'll just leave it at that.

OK, I admit that it was a little trendy to have them on, but maybe back in 1987 when they were few and far between. Every man and his god has them now, so to me, the constant use of them when there is no fog speaks a bit of a "hey, look at me too" attitude which, as adults, I thought we'd all be a little bit over by now.

Guys, you have a great car that speaks volumes by itself......you don't need your lights on like the WRX brigade to get noticed!!!

I'm off my soapbox now.

I agree with Brent as far as daytime driving is concerned, but I actually find them practical for night time driving, with or without fog. The reason being that they illuminate a section which is otherwise pretty dark, and help give a greater viewing angle, particularly to the sides of the vehicle. Anything which improves visibility for night time driving is a good thing. Oh and they look very cool and give the car a very nice road presence :D

I only use them when needed, hell the standard lights are powerful enough usually. Then again, My sight is quite good at night. Squinting all the time during the day, hate bright light B)

I know how bright they are if you cop the fog lights from someone behind you. It peaves me awf, therefore I tend not to do it to others.

I like them on ... I live in the mountains and find them good ....

especially on dirt roads ... highlight the local councils shortcomings in pot-hole and corrigation reductions

oh BTW ... during the day I don't need lights cause the sun is up

though I have been known to wack them on when it is a really "grey drizzly day" as the ute is black ....

Why do we make it law that a bike must have lights on but then make a law that says low set lights can only be used in the fog

I think that ALL vehicals should have a set of lights that are permantly on, they should be low set as not blind on comming traffic but bright enough to be seen from a fair distance

some of the modern car shaps and colors blend into the road even on a bright sunny day on the open road

Merc siliver is a bad colour for this IMHO but I do admit it looks great up close

Thos who drove MERC silver and get west of the great divide on open roads do u find that you have more near misses with wildlife than other cars ?

Have only used them at night( made sure beam was directly appropriately) and found them to be useful in lesser lit areas around city. No qualms on using on country roads.

I agree that ordinary headlights are sufficent in general conditions, but can't hurt to use them if used with consideration of other road-users.

I havent yet got my car, but I think I'll just use them when needed.

I have really bad night vision, especially when some one has their foggies on comming towards me or behind me. I'd feel slack to do the same to everyone else.

What ever happend to besafe be seen? In Sweden its compulsary to have headlights on at all hours. I'd rather be thought of as a tosser than get my baby run into. And yes having them on has saved my bacon. I dont used them on good sunny days but if it gets dim on they go. And as for poorly adjusted ones I think you mean home fitted slap ons. The Falcon ones are set at a warrentable standard and don't shine up in anyway. I think people should adapt a more proactive approach to driving and have lights of some form on. I would never ride my Motorbike with my lights off!!! And as for being a tosser, one day you might go to pull out and just catch a climps of those aforementioned fog lights and think sh*t that was close, I'm glad he had those lights on.

Safe motoring everyone.
