Boost Leak

I got my tune done today and on the way home I came off throttle and heard what sounded like a loud aftermarket BOV coming from in front of the passenger seat. From then on I have no power and whenever the turbo spools I hear a loud 'wooosh' sound from the passenger side.

It was on the dyno an hour earlier so I double checked the boost pipe to see it was put on properly to the BOV and its fine. Its connected to the T piece fine also.

I couldnt get under to see if the intercooler hose had come off or was loose, but we replaced the hose clamp just on friday - and the sound DEFINITELY comes from the passenger side, near the BOV.

Considering the BOV hoses are connected, does anyone have any ideas what can be causing this massive boost pressure leak? It was getting 16-17 psi on the dyno (and has been around that for the past 3 weeks) and now something has given and I can't see what it is.

Any ideas?

hey mate, I know u said it sounds like its comming from the passenger side but a couple of things to check, Firstly did you replace the clamp under the turbo? Secondly pull the cross over off the top and just recheck it hasnt pushed the rubber out.

P.S how did it go on the dyno?

Yep we replaced the clamp just on friday. I couldnt get under there today to see if it came off (too low hehe).

Yeah I'll have another check tomorrow and see if any hoses have been pushed out. When you say crossover you mean intake piping ontop of throttle body?

I checked all the piping yesterday around the crossover and it all looks ok.

The plastic turbo pipe was very loose, but I tightened that up and still no change.

BOV piping looks fine.

The 'woosh' sound seems to come on even before the turbo does... when the engine is under any kind of load starting at 1500rpm the sound starts and there is NO power. The turbo guage isn't moving at all.

I can put my foot down in 5th gear at 60km/hr the sound will start.... no turbo but full load.

Any other ideas?

Once you find it, make sure you check the boost. I dare say if it was making a sound when you left the dyno, it would have been making it on the dyno. It's prolly been tuned with the leak.

There again, I know what it's like for some unknowing boost to be thrown in, and they go pretty hard!!!!

I had it on the dyno less than an hour beforehand and it made 311rwkw

Then we left APC and I remember one time after feeding it it made a loud woosh sound like an aftermarket BOV but didnt think anything of it. Straight after this I parked it and didnt think about it. 45mins later when I took it out again I noticed the power loss for the first time.

With this leak I'll be lucky if it has 150rwkw.

I guess you have checked the most common places for the pipes to come off, but it definitely sounds like one has come off! Check all the way along the pressure line from turbo to throttlebody, take everything off if you need to and replace with quality clamps. You could have a split pipe and not know unless you take it off.
