To those of you who didn't have illumination in your switches like me. Heres a pic of what I did to mine. Sorry about the poor pic quaility, I'm better with a soldiering iron than a camera. :thumbsup: :idea:

A little hard to explain but I'll try. It appears it is the same board as the fairmont switches. You have to install a stem in the switch as the switch is missing it, this is easy to do in the single switch but a little harder in the drivers switch.( I used some thin aluminium ) There is an open hole in the PC board to soldier to. I dont know how or where ford put there LED's but I managed to fit it in above the two rocker contacts. I soldiered the other side of the diode to the common of the powerwindows as this seemed to be the only way that they would work. Its not to hard to fit the resistor and the LED just make sure that it doesnt touch contacts. The switches themselves are really easy to open but makesure when you put them together, to hold the switch flat when pushing it closed or you will bend or knock the contacts. Once you have done a single switch, the drivers switch will look easier to do. I have only one prob with the job which is the tail circuit on the fairmont has a diode to stop back feeding which the XR6T doenst appear to have. It makes your fog lights stay on even with the lights off ( only when the fog light switch is on ) but they turn off when you lock the car. I am awaiting my friendly dealer to get me a plug diagram so I can find the wire which I know the colour code of ( blue with white stripe ) but there happens to be four of that colour code in the one plug. Hope this helps. If you need to know more ask and I will try to explain.

Great job mate!!!!!!!!!! :thumbsup::bookworm:

I was wondering what size resistor/s and L.E.D you used and how many L.E.D's were used in the drivers side door.

Did you have to replace the rocker switches so that they would illumimate? The arrows look painted on???

Any help would be much appreciated as I'm going to attempt to do the this modification this weekend.

Thanks Rob :)

Ok this is what I used. A 3mm high bright blue LED, with a 390 ohm 1/4 watt resistor on the cathode side ( neg ). The LED has a nominal working voltage of around 3.5 to 4 volts. I also used heat shrink to cover exposed anode and cathodes just to make sure there was no risk off burny zub zub. And for the rocker switches no need to replace its the black that's painted on!! the whole in side of the switch is clear white plastic but you'll see that when you open them. I only used one LED per switch on all switches including the drivers four and I didn't bother with the rear cutoff switch as this made things very tight. I did put it in origanally but I thought it didn't look right. In the single switch I put the LED in the top just off the centre stem in side the switch, and had it pointing on about a 15 degree angle from the PC board. This seemed to give the most even light between the up and down arrows. Although there is a slight differance if you look closley. On the drivers side I put the LEDs on top for the drivers side windows and on the bottom for the passenger side. To pop the switch itself out, just put put a flat blade screw driver in at the bottom and gentley prize out. They come out really easy. Same goes for the drivers switches. To open the switch its self use a small flat blade and prize at the lock tabs on the side. This take a bit of care but once you see how to do it you can get the switch out and open in around 20 secs. Dont loose the contacts as they are floating and fall out if your not carefull. PS dont over heat the board when soldiering. Hope this is a help, I would take pics of how I have done it but I dont have a digital camera and it would take a while to do it the old fashioned way. If you would need a pic I could get one in about a week.
