Turned out to be the battery. Had a H/duty battery fitted and it was all good.

Shocking idle probs and rough take off. Then ATLAST, the engine light pops up and stayed on. Drove straight to dealer and turned out to be the Fuel pressure regulator.Hope this helps anyone else with a similar prob

I'd already got a new battery but it still had the problem of revs dropping really low, like to 250, and back again. I also changed the fuel filter too, as I thought that it was something to do with fuel, and was overdue anyway.

Its a 05 BA XR6T MkII Manual. The idling hovers around 900rpm, just poping around between 800 and 900rpm. It jolts the car slightly when it drops. Its done it since I got it (2 days ago) and has stalled 3 times on me now just sitting at lights. Its extremely sudden, no slow drop in revs, it just dies. Weird.I popped past Ford to see if they had any ideas, and the service manager seemed to think I needed to upgrade the computer or some sh*t, or he said it could be the throttle body. Said it either needs replacing or a clean out.. Its booked in for a service in 2 days. Ill let you know the outcome. From memory throttle bodies are over $500 to replace, that's if you go factory. While your replacing the tps, clean all the carbon build up from inside the throttle body as this reduces the passage of air bypassing the butterfly and causes havoc with idle parameters the car has learnt, and after that disconnect the battery for 20mins of so to erase the paramters learnt in the Keep alive memory, reconnect the battery and take the car for a spin, this should fix your dramaLet us know how you goHope this helps

Mainly happens when the car is cold. Its noticable at night as my lights dim realy badly in reaction to the rough idle/running of the engine, then come good again. Im guessing there is a spark issue, which in turn is not allowing the motor to ignite properly, but im not fully certain. It is back at ford for the 7th time, and awiating thier 'professional' (ha) diagnosis, although they tell me they cant find anything wrong with it and the ecu hasnt recorded anything of use. Im so glad im just out of warranty, not!
