I'd be interested in prices on a digital scanner to replace my Bearcat XLT Trunk Radio Scanner. I've also got two good quality Icom hand held UHF's which work really well.

Hi Guys,

I have managed to set up an arrangement with Telstat in Seaford VIC to give us car club prices for their Uniden products.

telstat_building2.jpg

They stock the full range of Uniden radios and accessories.

Here is there website if you would like to check them out further.

Their address and contact details are:

Telstat Transport Communications Pty Ltd

52 Brunel Road,

Seaford,

Victoria,

Australia, 3198

Peter Dwyer - Sales Manager

Phone 03-9786-9422

Fax03-9786-9610

Email us at sales@telstat.com.au

Web www.telstat.com.au

The deal is you have to contact them first to get the car club price because they don't advertise prices on their website. From the example they gave me, it will be cheaper than recommended retail price. But if you can't pick up the items directly from their store in Seaford, you may have to add into that the cost of freight (about $25 anywhere within Australia).

They said they would give us car club prices for individual purchases, but we can get an even bigger discount if we buy 10 or more of the same thing. So, if you think others are after what you want, it might be worthwhile posting up to see how many others are also after the same thing and let me know to organise a collective purchase.

Also, with vehicle mounted packages (CB radio + externally mounted antenna) they can give good deals as there is more flexibility.

Steps to Order:

1. Email enquiry to telstat (sales@telstat.com.au) for the FordXR6Turbo.com price AND copy me (gary777@gmail.com) in on your query. Address your email to Peter Dwyer - Sales Manager Telstat.

2. If you like their price (on the basis that you have already shopped around), then you will need to show, fax or email your FordXR6Turbo.com membership card to him. (PM me to have one sent out to you for this purpose - sorry about this but it's a requirement to prove that you are a bonafide member of a car club to access car club prices).

3. Place your order directly with Telstat in person, by phone or by fax. You can pay by credit card VISA, Mastercard or Bankcard. You can pick up in person, have them freight to you (about $25) or organise freight yourself.

Please feel free to PM me if you have any queries about this. By the way, I don't get any kick-back from this, purely doing this as a service to forum members.

Kind Regards,

EvilDaifu

I know you were asking Gary..but I'll answer anyway.

In the uniden handheld range the UH-075 is the best you can get.

5 Watts power, claimed 12km line of site, realistic conditions 4 - 5 kms.

The UH-044 is the next one at 2 watts, claimed 8km line of site, realistic 2 - 3

Then the 1watt uniden range, will get you about 1 - 2kms.

The little 500mw units claim 3kms, but will only see you get a couple hundred meters.

I recommend the 2watt unit, then move up if you require.

Whats a membership card ?

I do not think anyone here has a card saying they are a member, as we are NOT a club only a internet forum.

A "club" by definition needs to have a elected group of officials and be registered as a club.

Hi ZAP_F6,

The requirement to show a membership ID card to make a purchase was made by Telstat. So, I'm only trying to be flexible about it to allow members to take advantage of any special pricing they quote. Not planning anything grander than that
