Amazing what a couple of kids can do to your life really. I bought my 'Phoon CAI months ago and have only just got around to fitting the damn thing! :tease:

Up front I must thank Kaine again for his incredibly good and very accurate instructions (compete with picture of measurements!). Mate, if you're reading this, your measurements were absolutely :spoton:

Anyway, just thought I'd post some pics if anyone's interested. Feel free to PM me if you want any more details. First pic is one of the template all marked out and ready for cutting, using Kaine's measurements.

Second one is after the hole has been cut. I found that rather than drilling a zillion holes and trying to join them up, it was best to drill a few holes, just big enough to fit a hacksaw blade through, and then cut the rest using the blade. The plastic's very soft and easy to cut, makes for a better, smoother line IMHO. Although my corners aren't the best! :kissmy: Smoothed it off afterwards with a file and/or sandpaper.

This is the complete assembly, mocked up to make sure it all fitted properly...

This is how it should look on the inside - the ridges should all match up and it should fit like a glove (thanks again Kaine!!). :spit:

One of the airbox assembly installed in the car. It should look factory.

And finally, one of the BMC filter resting on top of it all!

As a final word, I dunno about others, but I found the airbox cover a REAL bugger to fit after the BMC filter was in. The BMC is a fair bit thicker than the stockie and getting the clips up and over is MUCH harder than before. In fact, I had to, umm, 'modify' one to get it to fit! :kissmy:

Don't mind you asking at all mate. I actually got it from a mate who works at Ford, so I was only charged $50, but I think they retail for around $80-90? Worth the extra over the DIY jobs (IMHO anyway) just for the factory look you end up with - it really is a super neat fit and all genuine Ford parts! :spit:

Sorry, got beaten to it! But yeah, some dealers seem to want VINs, others don't, you could just try your luck. Or hopefully some nice member has already PM'd you what you need. :spit:

Good photos and useful info Bugs, good one. Could have cleaned up the engine bay a bit before the last phot though!!!

K&N fitted in mine sweet as per original, sure you are not pinching the gasket surround when putting the top on, which I have inadvertently done once?

I recall a few months ago that were not into modding the engine and playing it real cool with the mods suggestions - Edit, CAI, wheels, injectors.........give Wog a call he can do you a nice I/c.

Hope the family is bearing up well with the new addition.

Cleaned up the engine bay?! Mate, I hardly get time to wash the outside of the car these days, let alone the engine bay! :glad:

Nah, pretty sure it's in there okay. I heard K&Ns weren't too much of a problem, but the BMCs are somewhat thicker I understand. Oh well, it's in one way or another now!

Still following my old plan, no major mods at all. Exhaust will remain stock and there'll certainly be no injectors or ICs on the list. CAI and filter were the only other engine mods as the 'Phoon CAI looks pretty stock anyway and I'd hradly call a filter much of a mod. Edit is the only other engine performance mod, and once I get the Wogedit I'll be done. :spoton:
