So I have recently acquired my cousins old Radio controlled car.

needed a little bit of fixing but hay its free right? so I'm not gonna complain.

It needs a new suspension arm as a few years ago I crashed it into a window LOL

So im thinking of getting a BA falcon body for it and painting it silver to match my whip

its a 12 turn motor - but I have no idea what this means, he said it was quick but drained a lot of battery juice.

I think this car which is electric will be a good starting point, as I want to get a gas car later on, a cen racing one which does 117km/h (worlds fastest RTR) but for now this will do.

it does mean drifts too for a 4wd chassis!

I will have to upload some videos of it in action once I get a charger!

I have no idea what else I could do to it to make it faster or handle better but if anyone else knows about them, help me out

Thanks!

Here in melbourne we have a shop in the city called hearns hobbies, the guys there have vast amounts of info on things like this.

maybe look around in your phone book for a good hobby shop and visit them. they chould be able to point you towards any clubs close by!

I've always wanted a petrol RC car but I have too many time sapping hobbies as it is!

Yeah gas RC cars are the ultimate!

I will have to go visit a hobby shop in the next few days.

Gas ones are great, no stupid waiting around for the batteries to charge. full er up and it goes!

a 12 turn motor has twelve turns of wire on each armature segment inside the motor. The less turns the more rpm but less torque. also creates a higher current draw (shorter runs time).

I thought Traxxa 4tec was the fastet rtr at 75+mph..?

oh ok, but like you dont need to much torque right for these touring cars? like if it was a monster truck or a off road type more torque would be better?

here is they gas one that I will look at importing

oh sers? I will have to look at the Traxxa brand also, I'm still thinking of which to get but thanks for letting me know as it gives me something else to consider!

Faster isnt always better if your just learning to drive. If you really want to make it drift get a 24 or 27 turn stock motor and gear it right up(more teeth on the pinion gear ). Run some big capacity batteries (ie 3300 or 4200 mah) and get some proper drift tires....

check this site out www.rcd1.org

Luke

edit: that CEN looks nice but beware of importing cars as you may have dramas getting parts. Try an buy some thing fromt he more popular brands Ie Tamiya, HPI, Losi, Team Associated and Traxxas. Dont buy a race car i you want to just thrash around get a basher they are stronger, easier and more fun to drive...

First off get a new brushless motor, about 250 bucks for a top of the line.

My mate just bought a mini T losi stadium truck, it pops monos and is almost impossible to handle.

it aint quite that simple. brushless is the way to go no doubt but to run a brushless motor you also have to change the esc (electronic speed controller) to suit a brushless set up.

novak are quite good and also castle creations mamba series as well.

to give you some idea on cost a friend of mine just got a mamba system for his 1/10 drift car from tower hobbies in the states.

$212.99 US plus frieght to aus and that's still cheaper than any australian hobby shop.

I run a novak ss5800 in my TC3 drift car and once they are setup they are awesome. heaps of power and torque and awesome run time. BUT they are expensive. I was lucky and picked one up cheap on ebay.... :spoton:

We had our Nitro 1/8th cars out on the weekend and I leaned out my .21 Ofna 8 port a little..

It's AWD with slicks, and as I was driving down the road at ~half throttle, squeezing the trigger to max saw the car spin ( 360deg ) immediately :spoton:

It actually lifts the front right wheel off the ground when you hammer it, even when it's moving....

Great fun, and no pesky charging time :)
