The small piece rattling around was a small steel cross like part. Tried to upload a picture but keep getting errors. Shifter does not ‘lock’ into drive now. Can just push it up into park and down to drive with no safety lock now. Damn shifter is over engineered imo. Thanks for the links. I’ll keep looking.

Awesome bit of info on here thanks garyk, had exactly the same thing happen to my 2009 FG XR6, tried a spare G6ET cluster in it and it stopped. I know this was an old post but I think it is good to give feedback on fixes like this that can save a heck of a lot of mucking around chasing the wrong symptoms and this is what these sites are so useful for. Just the shifter itself not the electrical part. Somethings come loose inside it.

you mean the electrical diagram? or just a diagram of the object itself for "assembly/disassembly"?

does indicate something either weird in the tune or an electrical gremlin relating to the ignition/coils system... I'd be looking to get a auto-elec involved... Definitely strange...

made it into the gym late last night, eased my way back in to all workouts and got through unscathed although my body is quite achy this morning haha so probably went a touch early in the tail of this illness. Hi all, Posting here just to hear guidance from others as I'm not having any good luck getting the issue I'm having resolved and unsure if the mechanic knows the root issue. Just for context I currently, have a Tuned 04 BA XR6T (auto BTR) making quite decent power. Every thing is great and a baby this thing around, but I have noticed some issues that are bugging me since the tune and have been brought back to the tuner and also the mechanic who installed the parts twice now and each time it feels like its gotten better, but then it just goes back to how it was. In drive, my car idles just above or under 1k rpm. Basically, the issues starts once the engine is warm and slightly pasted the quarter line on the water temp dash. Starting the car cold or running/driving cold fine. Once the engine is warm, driving is fine too, but I do notice sometimes when stopped (like a red light) I do sometimes sense and feel its dropping rpm slightly and struggling to stay idle. I also notice only in P or N that sitting still revs can go all the way from idle to half a grand even less and fly back up to idle. I even had a situation where I had been driving for a few hours and as soon as I chucked it into P it instantly died like ignition/engine die because all the electronics (dash, headunit, internal lights and all were still on) but rpms were dead at 0 and need to try to start it a few times for it get going. The last straw I had was when I turned on the car 20 mins after turning it off and warm it chucked an engine light and aggressively started revving (never had this before). So bringing it back to the mechanic and as starting point he has replaced the fuel pump (in replacement of my already new pump which I bought a couple months ago). I have been driving with the replacement for a few days now again it feels better but still doesnt seem right. This is a daily driver and I guess for some reason I thought I could do all these things without any issues, but maybe I was naive. I love this car, and it's quick but yea the issues are not helping. Sorry if this is not enough information to really tell, I guess I am just looking for advice to what direction to go from here. Fuel pump is a walbro 460 from walbro directly (T.I Performance). that sounds... horrendously complicated... I'd imagine the best bet is just to get all loom from the same vehicle (ideally the ZF6 one) and go from there...

Hi Guys just after some help please I have a Bf xr6 that previous owner idk why put ba Fairmont Ghia body loom through,I sold the car to him 2 years ago and it had fg g6e turbo body loom interior motor etc but for some reason he has pulled all of that out and put ba Ghia dash and body looms and bf motor with zf6 auto the car started but was in limp mode and has no throttle response. Since buying it back I've changed left loom from kick panel to ecu and the right side loom which runs from the right kick panel under fuse box that comes over to the left side I haven't started the car yet but just want to kno do I have to change the dash loom and the loom that runs to the fuel pump from the kick panel on the passenger side any will be greatly appreciated cheers🙏
