Does removing the centre muffler give the xr6t more go?

Does the sound of the car without a centre muffler sound nice or is it just loud and droney?

That topic has been discussed before on the forum (just do a search). Basically it does give a slight power increase and a different sound, but after a few weeks, some have found that the car get's sluggisah and worse than "stock". Due to the fact that the computer in the car learns and if something is not quite right for a time it just decides to make the car go like a dog.. However, some people have done this and it's stayed good for 1,000's of km's..

isn't that funny,...............

APS are not endorsing a mod that almost matches their phase 1 $1800 cost mod..............mmm wonder why.

Look, I have had it done.

It is definately worth doing. In the end its up to you. Those who have found it worthwile sware by it. Those that are to scared find negative things to say about it.

Choice is yours.

BTW.. with centre exhaust and air intake mods, mine runs 13.77sec 1/4 mile in auto sss mode.

Friend with APS phase 1 ran on the same night ( thre seperate passes ) 14.10 1/4 mile in sss auto.

If you want the time sheets, I can fax them or e-mail them to you.

How the hell does removing your centre muffler equate to the Phase I kit? :spoton:

I'll have a glass of what you're having thanks... if there's any left in the bottle.

I tried it before I got my aps kit and it did sound louder, a bit droney for me and crackly on over run, I didnt really notice any power increase however mine would sometimes over boost when it was removed. Its cheap enough to try, give it a go.

Cheers

Yeah well I think that's funny and sad at the same time. If you actually conduct back to back dyno tests on the same car, same fuel, and same ambient conditions I and can confidently say that the removal of the centre muffler (only) achieves absolutely zero in terms of additional power, though it does increase the noise level dramatically. There is a real difference between additional power and additional noise, and both can be measured accurately.

As for your comment on the phase I upgrade we have run 13.41 @ 105 mph with a stock xr6t (other than the unichip upgrade) its the mph which shows the power not just the ET.
