When I move on from the T in the next year or so I am considering getting an AC Cobra replica. My problem is I know nothing about them other than a neighbour has one, it sounds :spoton: and you can hear it coming from blocks away.

It would be just as a weekend car and I would get a 5 year old Falcon to get me to work and back.

From research I have done already, there are several builders in Oz but I am not interested in building it myself. Whatever I get would have to be a complete, road registered animal.

I imagine I will have to spend $60k or more to get what I want. Any pointers guys on what to look for?

Luke.

Flukey maybe get in contact with a Cobra club here in Melbourne... and they can point you in the correct direction... might even be able to put you on to a person or two who are selling their cars...

Good luck getting one... they are one of my dream cars!! I might have to take photo's of it for you and post them here... :spoton:

I remember about 7 years ago heading out to the Great Ocean Road my mate and I had just made it to the outskirts of Geelong and were passed by a Cobra cruise... they were 3 wide and about 20 deep at the 1st set of lights leading in to Geelong from the freeway... you can only imagine the sight of these cars for one, but the sound of the open side exit pipes as they all give it a bit away from the green light... AMAZING...

Robnell, DRB, Roaring 40's are all Cobra Kit Car (including turn key) manufacturers in Australia, I believe.

Of course you could PM CobraV8...he has a eleventy bajillion hp one that he races and would be able to help.

Looking at roaring 40's (which may be manufacture in Seth Effrica too?!?) a GT40 'kit' is $20,000 but a turn key one is about $100,000! :spoton:

Nice cars but...Have you looked in autotrader, Just Cars etc? there's always heaps that have had stuff $90,000 builds selling for $40,000 to $50,000...That may or may not tell you something about them? :nono:

I think there is a message there :nono:

I have been checking out Carsales for a while. It looks like you can get very low k's and say 2 years old for about $60K. Ten years old you will still pay $40K.

If they only devalued by 30% over 10 years they would be a good pickup.

Many variations though on motor, transmission etc so I dont really have an indication of what is good value.
